A Burning Man Mutant Vehicle and Theme Camp
Castle Anomalous is returning to the playa in 2012 with an improved mutant vehicle design and an expanded camp theme.
Castle Anomalous is both a Burning Man mutant vehicle and theme camp. Our camp extends the "castle" theme of our Castle Anomalous mutant vehicle.

General design of the Castle Anomalous mutant vehicle for 2012. The entire vehicle will be covered with twelve foot tall castle wall panels. A new expanded roof deck shade structure will be ten foot above the deck (twenty five feet off the ground), and it will be covered by two thirty-foot long strips of shade fabric. In addition, we are planning some surprises that can be seen for the first time at Burning Man.
The Castle Anomalous vehicle is much more than just a large mutant vehicle. It is a complete, interactive mobile theme camp that is designed to look like a castle. Our unique vehicle design includes a public roof deck that holds a sound system with a DJ and up to forty people. Unlike other mutant vehicle designs, Castle Anomalous also has a large private inner chamber exclusively for camp members and guests.

Thousands of people all across the playa have already experienced the Castle Anomalous mutant vehicle. Day and night, the roof deck is always full with up to forty people listening to music and dancing while enjoying sweeping, unobstructed views all across the entire playa.

A typical night on the Castle Anomalous roof deck. It doesn't get much better than this. A DJ playing great music, dozens of people talking and dancing, great views of the playa, lots of dust, ...
Whether parked at our theme camp or on the move across the playa, the Castle Anomalous mutant vehicle creates a focus for interaction, conversation, music, dancing and art.

Castle Anomalous on burn night in 2009. During the burn, our roof deck had a DJ playing music in the back while we burned 200 pounds of propane off the front. The middle of the deck had over thirty people all crushed up against one side of the rail watching the man burn.
